A senior pet comes to you with a lot of wisdom. If you are lucky, like I was, your senior is already housed trained and has no major behavior problems.
A senior pet simply does not require the kind of attention that a puppy or a kitten need.
Older animals know what they like. Keep an open mind, and watch closely as they slowly reveal their personality and quirks. They will let you know what they like and don't like.
Once you fulfill your senior's basic needs, you can relax and slowly get to know each other.
Bottom line, you don't have to reinvent the wheel with a senior. Most of their personality is set, you just have to put in some time getting to know each other. Then just simply enjoy the process.
